1Sky ( 1sky.org ) - The 1Sky Campaign is dedicated to aggregating a massive nationwide movement by communicating a positive vision and a coherent set of national policies to slow climate change. 350 ( 350.org ) - Is a group dedicated to raising awareness to the need for reducing the atmospheric concentration of carbon dioxide to 350 ppm. As Bill McKibben says, "350 is the red line for human beings, the most important number on the planet. The most recent science tells us that unless we can reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere to 350 parts per million, we will cause huge and irreversible damage to the earth." An Inconvenient Truth ( climatecrisis.net or wecansolveit.org ) - The first website is tied to the Academy Award-winning documentary "An Inconvenient Truth," that discusses climate change and urges the American public to act. The second website describes Al Gore's "We" campaign to spread information explaining that clime change is both urgent and solvable. Clean Air - Cool Planet ( cleanair-coolplanet.org ) - A cool nonprofit organization dedicated to finding and promoting solutions to global warming. Climate Crisis Coalition ( climatecrisiscoalition.org ) - A group aiming to build a coalition that unfolds a national and visible action campaign, making it impossible for citizens and governments to ignore the climate crisis. Climate Events Calendar ( inthemorningofaday.com ) - A free, international climate change activist event calendar. By using this calendar, concerned citizens around the world can work together to help fight climate change. Earth Hour ( earthhour.org ) - A group created to take a stand against the greatest threat our planet has ever faced, Earth Hour uses the simple action of turning off the lights for one hour to deliver a powerful message about the need for action on global warming. Grist: Environmental News and Commentary ( gristmill.grist.org ) - A complete listing of short articles providing responses to every main type of skeptical comment on climate change. Keep Winter Cold ( keepwintercold.org ) - A partnership promoting a polar plunge in December to raise awareness for global warming and to "Keep Winter Cold," led by the Chesapeake Climate Action Network and the U.S. Climate Energy Council. Senator Barbara Boxer ( pacforachange.com ) - A site where you can voice your views on global warming, and on what you think the U.S. government should do, to the chairwomen of the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works. Stop Global Warming ( stopglobalwarming.org ) - An informative site where you can join an on-going virtual march to promote more U.S. involvement in the steps needed to slow global warming. Currently, Stop Global Warming has over 1,000,000 marchers, including many prominent citizens. The Heat is Online ( heatisonline.org ) - An information-packed site maintained by Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter, editor and author, Ross Gelbspan. U.S. Climate Change Science Program (http://www.climatescience.gov) - Official U.S. government sponsored website about climate change effects and the science behind them. Free climate change studies available. WonderingMind42 ( wonderingmind42.com ) - A creative educator uses a series of videos to juggle science, logic, and puckish humor about climate change to tell viewers "How It All Ends." Locally-Focused (New England Area) Organizations Supported by GWEN: Bedford GWAC ( bedfordgwac.org ) - The Bedford (Massachusetts) Global Warming Action Coalition's basic mission is to boost local awareness and actions to help reduce global warming. Interfaith Walk for Climate Rescue ( climatewalk.org ) - A nonsectarian group that organized a 100-mile walk from North Hampton, MA to Boston, MA, in March of 2007, to gain public support for, and increase public awareness of, climate change. Lexington GWAC ( lexgwac.org ) - The Lexington (Massachusetts) Global Warming Action Coalition's mission is to take local, global, and municipal action against global warming. Massachusetts Power Shift ( masspowershift.org ) - Massachusetts Power Shift is a group organizing a climate rally in Boston, MA from April 11th-14th, 2008, where over one thousand citizens will converge to learn, connect, get inspired, and take action to solve the climate crisis and chart the path to a just, sustainable future. MCAN ( massclimateaction.org ) - The Massachusetts Climate Action Network is a network of over three dozen local groups dedicated to halting the threat of global climate change in our communities and the state.
